About the Presenter
Vanessa Sowders, BSW
Vanessa has a Bachelor of Social Work from Indiana State in Terre Haute. She attended the Train the Trainer event of Heartfelt Connects a Memory Care Program. Vanessa began her career in 2004 as a Social Work Director where she quickly developed a love for geriatrics and the dementia population. During this time, she acquired certifications from ISDH. She is also a certified QDDP (Qualified Developmental Disability Professional), and has attended Teepa Snow conferences. Vanessa has worked in long term care from 2004 until 2019. Recently, she transitioned to the ACO Social Worker for Franciscan Health of Lafayette. Vanessa has 6 children which she and her husband refer to as a yours, mine, ours and theirs; as our 6th is adopted. They spend time watching sports, doing 4-H with their kids, and enjoying the process of their 2 oldest children buying their own home and focusing on their 2nd year of nursing school.
