HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM NASW IN CHAPTER

Holiday Greetings from NASW IN Chapter

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff we want to thank you for your constant support and membership and hope that the new year is peaceful for all.  As we say goodbye to 2017 and prepare for 2018 we want to share opportunities for member involvement in NASW-Indiana.

Get involved in NASW-Indiana!

Our Chapter relies on volunteers in a multitude of ways.  If you are interested in getting involved and helping support NASW-Indiana, we have several opportunities available, such as:

Board Positions - we currently have two open seats on the board in Region 3 and Region 10.  If you live in one of these regions and are interested in joining the board, please contact the office at [email protected]

NASW Committees - NASW committees are a wonderful way to display your enthusiasm and talents while building upon your leadership skills.  If you are interested in joining one of these committees or have questions, please contact the office at [email protected].

Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity (CORED) promotes, values, and honors diversity within Indiana NASW through education, policy development, and collaboration with other programs and committees.

Public Policy/LEAD committee proactively monitors, organizes, and recommends social action and advocacy for Federal, State and Local policies, administrative issues, and legislation that affects clients, consumers and communities served by social workers as well as legislation and policies that support and further the Social Work profession.  LEAD educates Social Workers and Social Work students about the importance of influencing State policy and encouraging maximum, effective participation in the electoral process through community and legislative environments where social work values are accepted and implemented by the policy makers in Indiana.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) develops, reviews and monitors programs of the chapter and the field of social work and provide education to the chapter and the field of social work with respect to GLBTQ+ concerns in social work practice, social work education, social policy and social justice.

Annual Conference Committee plans the NASW IN Annual Conference.  Onsite volunteering at the conference is a committee expectation.  Specific roles include: reviewing and scoring proposals, program planning; soliciting sponsors, exhibitors and advertising; silent auction procurement and management; and developing social events and activities.0

Political Action for Candidate Election Committee (PACE)  promotes political education and full participation in the electoral political process among members of the social work profession and fosters the participation of interested members to elect candidates who support NASW’s public policy goals. PACE is a bipartisan political action committee dedicated to advancing social workers’ goals in campaigns and elections.  Membership on the Indiana PACE committee is non-elected, but committee members are approved by the Chapter Board of Directors.

NASW Indiana is currently accepting nominations for Social Worker of the Year and Community Partner of the Year.  This is your opportunity to nominate a colleague for this prestigious award. Information and the application for SWOTY and CPOTY are available online.
